Witch & Familiar
The Witch & Familiar is a series of works in graphite drawing on magical archetypes and regional myths to create a personal body of work around the theme of the Witch and her familiar animal.
The witch’s familiar accompanies and works in unison with her in the realms of magic. As in the ancient Greek concept of the Daemon, the familiar acts as proxy or mediator between spirit and the human realm.
The series celebrates the kindred affinity of human and animal and the magical feminine. The witch and her animal familiar in this series are a unified force receiving sustenance from the earth while reaching out to spirit, an integrated manifestation of oneness with nature and the world.
