I spend many hours on my own attending to my art. I love this magical aloneness but my work is not created in a void. Rather it's built on my explorations in spirit and art. Visionary art is another way to experience the divine. l look at how classical principles of artmaking from the Renaissance and beyond can strengthen the way spiritual visions take form on paper. As an artist and teacher exploring the meeting point of technique and spirit I focus on the solid foundations of drawing and painting crafted throughout history to facilitate the skillful creation of visionary art.The works of artists creating metaphysical and magical art inform and inspire my own work and I share some of these inspirations on Pictomagical.

Matilda Katz is a fine artist and art teacher originally from Israel, now living in the UK with her husband and their cat familiar. Her work draws on magical archetypes and regional myths to create a personal body of work with roots in her ancestral home of the near ancient east and stretching out into the imaginal. The visual language of her work brings to the front fluid states of consciousness through ‘clouds’ of graphite and soft edges that allow a porous distinction between areas and domains. Matilda also explores visionary, spiritual and magical art on her educational platform Pictomagical.
